Digit: 0 to 9 symbols
are called digit.
Digits
are two types:
(i) Significant digits: 1 to 9
digits are called significant digit.
(ii)
Non significant: 0 (zero) is
a non - significant.
Intrinsic Value: The face value
or intrinsic value of a digit for any place in the given number is the value of
the digit itself.
Or,
a significant digit expressed separately is its intrinsic value.
Place value: The digit, used
in a number, expressing the number due to its place is called the place value
of that number.
Enumeration: Any number
written in digits is known as the enumeration.
Decimal system: The numbers are
ten based and that is why they are called the decimal system.
